Distinguished Visiting Lecturers Series

Each year, the Humanities Institute sponsors a series of free public lectures delivered by distinguished visitors to the University. The lectures are centered on an annually selected theme or issue of broad intellectual and social importance — the same theme chosen for the Institute's faculty seminar. Previous visitors have included well-known humanities scholars as well as civic leaders.

Endowed China Studies Lecture

The Institute also has received a generous endowment to present an annual China Studies Lecture that explores China's historical, cultural, or social connection or contribution to the series' yearly theme.

Current Series Theme

The 2008-9 theme is Ethical Life in a Global Society.
